First installment: “IndieGOGO Campaign goes LIVE! or Oh Crap-a-Mundo”

Please follow along with me, Jenny Krasner, as we go together from nothing existing in a tiny studio apartment in New York City, to the creation of a MASSIVE VENICE BIENNALE ART INSTALLATION!!! :-)  We’ll discover together, what this entails, how it will get done, raising the money to produce this project and inevitably, the actual ARTWORK, being UNVEILED for the FIRST TIME in Venice, this SEPTEMBER 10TH!

O.K., so…you wake up in the morning, make your tea, look out onto the dark interior of the 7th floor of a 21 story Upper West Side building…and you check your email, 8 a.m. ….HUH. A letter from Swatch, the watch company….and they want, what?!?!? They want me to build a 42 foot long 10 foot high installation for their pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Right. Keep breathing…you’re kidding, nope…not kidding. Totally real. So then you actually spend two weeks thinking how cool this is until you realize, OMG…..I need to start this! :-)….. Create the whole thing, build it, get it to Venice, live in Venice for 6 weeks to install be there when it’s up and uninstall.  Suddenly you realize this is going to cost a bloody hell of a lot of money, so your friend says, Start an IndieGOGO campaign!!!! Well that is JUST the beginning…It took four weeks and four extraordinary team members: Lise Battaglia, El Kazan, Jerry Weinstein and Mark Seski, donating their time to help organize and create this campaign to help raise money for this project but it’s finally LIVE! …and YOU can PARTICIPATE  here!

So this 35 day IndieGOGO campaign, is now launched and will end this coming July 27th to raise the funds to pay for shipping, transportation and supplies. Please get involved and participate in making this massive visual extravaganza about love in the fast lane become a reality!

My installation is actually a SECRET….Swatch wants my images under lock + key until the unveiling to the media on September 10th so I am sworn to secrecy. What I CAN tell you, is that it’s going to be a multi-media installation entitled “Diary of an Infatuation Junkie” and will tell a visual story of love and passion at the turn of the 21st Century. It will be on view at the Swatch Pavilion in Arsenale Nord, Venice, from September 10th through October.

Swatch is the main partner of The Venice Biennale 2015, the world’s most prestigious exhibition of contemporary art. The 56th edition opened May 9, 2015 under the title “All the World’s Futures” curated by Okwui Enwezor and runs through November 22, 2015. Venice Biennale Website
